Guodong Chen is currently a lecturer and master's supervisor at the Department of Architecture in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He received his Doctor of  Engineering degree majoring in Architecture from Tianjin University in 2018. He has presided over 4 research projects supported by NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China), Humanities & Social Sciences Fund of MOE (Ministry of Education of China), Social Sciences Fund of Hubei Province and HUST Innovation Research Fund; and participated in more than 10 projects funded by the NSFC, NSSFC (National Social Science Fund of China), Tianjin Natural Science Foundation, etc. Besides, he participated in writing the 5 series of "The History of Modern Chinese Architecture", and the constuction of National virtual simulation experiment teaching project. He also published more than 10 Chinese or English academic papers, leaded or participated in dozens of projects involving architectural design, urban planning and cultural heritage conservation. Doctor Chen received the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of Tianjin University in 2018, the Best Paper Award in EAAC 2015 (International Conference on East Asian Architectural Culture), the First Prize of 2014 China Architectural Education National College Students' Academic Paper Competition. His main research interests include: architectural history and theory, cultural heritage conservation and digitization, tradition and modern design, modern city and architecture, and cross-cultural space research.
