Zhiyong Zhao received the B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. From 2014 to 2015, he was a joint Ph.D. Student with the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2016, he was a Research Assistant at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. From 2017 to 2020, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Since 2020, he has been an Associate Professor with the School of Optical and Electronic Information, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include space-division multiplexing, optical fiber sensing, optical fiber devices, special optical fibers, and nonlinear fiber optics.
