Dr. Wei Chen is the Associate Professor at School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He received the M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Wuhan, China in 1997, and 2004, respectively. He has over twenty years of experience in industry and academia, as an engineer and educator. Dr. Chen is a Member of the IEEE and Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering. His expertise is in power system and its automation such as: protective relaying, power system transient control and analysis, renewable energy and smart grid technologies, substation automation base on IEC61850, digital signal processing and etc. He has authored and coauthored more than 50 technical papers and hold 20 China, US and Indian patents. He received five Awarded Ministerial Prizes of Science & Technology Progress by The Science & Technical Department of Hubei Province, China. He teaches in Power System Protective Relaying for undergraduate students, Application of Wide-Area Measurement System for graduate students.
