Dr. Xinwang Liu is a professor and Doctoral Supervisor at School of Materials Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is also the Chief Scientist of National Key Research and Development Program of China. He received his B.E. and Ph.D. degree at Harbin Institute of Technology in 2005 and 2011 respectively. He once studied at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany and The University of Tennessee in US as a visiting scholar.

His research areas include the material-structure integrated additive manufacturing technology of high-performance alloys, multi-scale simulation technology, hybrid additive manufacturing equipment, and non-equilibrium solidification behavior.

He has presided ‘Additive manufacturing and laser manufacturing’ key project from National Key Research and Development Program of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc. He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal papers and has authorized over 40 invention patents.
