Dr Xuelian Li is Lecturer in the School of Journalism and Information Communication at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Her works focuses on online user behavior, media development and social change, and communication and sociology theory. Methodologically, she is a data scientist studying online communication activities and social life through data mining and deep modeling based on large-scale surveys and user behavior data. Dr Li has also conducted in-depth interviews, focus groups, and participant observation to study new media use such as using cell phones in different cities and villages in China. Dr Li’s main articles are " Children born in July and August: a study on the age regulation in primary school and student’s education access and development " and " Fallacy of the Knowledge Gap Hypothesis: The Structural Paradox of Knowledge Acquisition in Social Media " .

Dr Li received her PhD in Literature from Peking University in 2019.
