Professor Xu Shen, Ph.D., at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is the director of the Building Technology Research Center in the School of Architecture of Urban Planning. His research interest is mainly in the fields of green & sustainable buildings and cities, building energy efficiency and solar architecture. He obtained a Country Level 1 Registered Architect Certificate and a Registered Planner Certificate. He is the principal investigator in several research projects, including the ones funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Hubei Province and Wuhan Urban and Rural Construction Commission. He is a member of several academic organizations including the Committee of Green Campus in China Green Building Council (CHINAGBC). His publications include five textbooks and translations, and more than 20 academic papers published in domestic and foreign journals and several academic conferences. He has completed a number of designs and projects in architecture and urban planning. He has guided many students in design competitions with more than ten winnings of different levels of honors and prizes.
