Dr. Houjin Zhang, Professor at department biotechnology.

Dr. Zhang graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree in 1999. He got his Ph.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he completed the postdoctoral research at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. The main research fields at Dr. Zhang’s lab are bioinformatics mining of microbial omics data, construction and characterization of synthetic microbial community. In 2013, he was selected into Chutian talent plan of Hubei Province. In 2016, he won the second prize of excellent teaching quality award at HUST. Since 2010, he has awarded with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (youth fund, general fund) and other projects. As the core member, he participated in the national key basic research and development plan (973 Plan) and the national key R & D plan. In the past five years, he has published several papers in internationally renowned journals such as genomics, proteomics & bioinformatics, database (Oxford), SCI total environment, etc.
