Prof. CHEN Wei received both his B.S. and M.S. in Optics from Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) in 2010 and 2012, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Stony Brook University, New York, in 2018. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Janella Research Campus (HHMI) for 6 months before moving to UC Berkeley to continue his postdoctoral training under the supervision of Prof. Na Ji from 2018 to 2023. In 2023, he returned to HUST to join the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering as a Professor.
Dr. Chen is a member of Optica and SPIE. He served as the session chair of SPIE Photonics West BIOS 2021 and as a reviewer for prestigious journals such as “Nature Photonics”, “Nature Communications”, "Optica," "Engineering," and others. Dr. Chen has received several internationally and nationally respected awards, including the Sculpted Light in the Brain Travel Award and the first prize in the National College Student Optoelectronic Design Competition. Dr. Chen is the principal investigator for national-level projects, including the National Natural Science Fund for Excellent Yong Scientists Fund Program (Overseas), and has participated in key research and development projects for the U.S. "Brain Initiative." He has also published multiple high-quality papers in top-tier journals such as "Nature Methods”, “Nature Neuroscience", "Nature Communications," "Cell Metabolism," "Molecular Psychiatry," and "eLife," and holds one U.S. patent.
