Profile

Rui Guo, Ph.D., Associate Professor. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Chongqing University in 2014 and 2017, respectively, and earned his Ph.D. from Aalborg University, Denmark in 2021. From 2021 to 2024, he conducted postdoctoral research at KU Leuven, Belgium.

His research focuses on energy conservation and carbon reduction in building/district energy systems, efficient application of renewable energy, optimization of building envelope performance, and advanced energy-saving control of building energy systems. He is the principal investigator of one national-level overseas talent project and has served as a key researcher in major international projects, including EU Horizon 2020, IEA Annex 80, and Belgian Flux 50 initiatives.

He has published nearly 30 academic journal papers, including more than 10 papers as first author/corresponding author in Q1 journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews and Applied Energy. He has also published one monograph, one EU policy brief, and obtained six patents. He serves as a guest editor for the journal Buildings and as an outstanding reviewer for over 10 journals, including Applied Energy and Energy Conversion and Management.

He maintains strong academic collaborations with Aalborg University (Denmark), KU Leuven (Belgium), Université Paris-Saclay (France), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA), and China Academy of Building Research. Outstanding graduate students may be recommended for exchange opportunities with these institutions.

Dr. Guo warmly welcomes dedicated students from the Built Environment, Electrical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and related fields to apply for Ph.D. and Master's programs under his supervision. Undergraduate students are also welcome to join the research group for scientific training, and he provides guidance for academic competitions.
