Junwen Dingis an Associate Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Computer Science, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Technology from HUST in 2017, under the supervision of Professor Lv Zhipeng. From January 2018 to August 2020, he conducted postdoctoral research at HUST, collaborating with Professor Chu-Min Li from the University of Picardie Jules Verne, France. Previously, from January 2016 to January 2018, he worked as a Research Assistant at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany.
His research interests include intelligent computing, heuristic optimization algorithms, solving NP-hard problems, AI/LLM-empowered optimization algorithms, intelligent optimization methods and their applications in production scheduling, and decision-making & optimization in complex systems. He has conducted in-depth research on classic NP-hard problems such as job shop scheduling, multi-agent path finding, vehicle routing, graph partitioning, cluster analysis, and facility location. He is dedicated to promoting the practical application of heuristic optimization algorithms in various industries including manufacturing, production planning & scheduling, large-scale integrated circuit design, cloud computing, telecommunications, and logistics.
In recent years, he has published over 20 papers in renowned international artificial intelligence conferences such as AAAI and IJCAI, and operations research journals such as IEEE Transactions, Computers & Operations Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering, Information Sciences, and Applied Intelligence. He has guided students in designing intelligent optimization algorithms that have achieved top-three global rankings in multiple international algorithm competitions. He has presided over one Young Scientist Fund project and one General Program project from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one Postdoctoral Foundation project, and one provincial teaching research project. He has also led and participated in multiple industry-sponsored collaborative projects with companies like Huawei.
