Professor Fu received B.S. degree in physics from the Shandong Normal University (2003), and M.S. (2005) and Ph.D. (2005) both in condensed matter physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He worked as a research associate in the Institute of Applied Physics, Hamburg University (2008 – 2011), Germany. He was a FPR research fellow (2011 - 2014) in the RIKEN, Japan. Since 2014, he has joined the School of Physics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a full professor.
Professor Fu’s research focuses on the electronic and magnetic properties of low dimensional systems and topological states of matter with an emphasis on exploring the quantum spin physics and correlated states in those systems. The main experimental tool is scanning tunneling spectroscopy for atomic-scale characterizations of the physical property, as well as molecular beam epitaxy for precisely controlled growth of nanostructures with artificially tailed properties.
