Profile
Zhang Kai is a full professor at Department of Applied Electronic Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (SEEE), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China.
He joined HUST in 1996 after getting his M. E. (Master of Engineering) degree. He was promoted to an associate professor in 2001. He got his PhD degree in the same year. He was a visiting scholar at Sustainable Power Research Group (SPRG), University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada, during 2004-2005. There he participated in a research project on micro-gas-turbine power generation system led by Prof. Liuchen Chang (also the leader of SPRG). He was promoted to a full professor at HUST in 2006. In 2011, he completed an R&D project on high power railway traction drive together with Assoc. Prof. Xiong Jian of the same department. The 4*1200kW traction drive was successfully put into commercial operation in the same year. His current research interests include medium-to-high-volume ac/dc and dc/ac power conversion systems, ac/railway traction drives, and EMC techniques for power electronic systems. He is an author of over 60 technical papers.
