Research Field
My research focuses on the urban sprawl process and the land development of transitional China in the post-reform period, including the three particular perspectives:
To begin with, I investigate the spatial-temporal changing patterns of Chinese large cities in the urban sprawl process, such as the land use changes, urban spatial structure, as well as the urban growth modes.
Secondly, the reorganization of the socioeconomic structure is also my concern regarding the socio-spatial segregation based on the residential area, income, and registration status. The hot topics like urban villages and gated communities are both included in this category.
Last but not least, I dig into the political economic perspective to analyze the mechanism and influential factors driving the spatial pattern changes and socio-spatial differentiation of Chinese large cities in the rapid urbanization process. The government behaviors, land property rights, and the development competition in-between different levels of authorities are the key content of this topic.
Besides the above content, I am also interested in the research of the connection between land use and transportation, urban-rural integrated design, the reorganization of the industrial space, and so on.
