Ronghai Qu received his B.E. and M.S. degrees from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1993 and 1996, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002. Description of Research Group:The Center for Advanced Electrical Machines & Drives (CAEMD) is established in September 2011 at Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST). Aiming to gather high-level talents and to become a competitive innovation research platform in machine design, drive and control technic fields. Research areas include novel special machine topology, theoretical analysis and design, modeling and simulation, motor drive and control, etc. The achievements are widely used in applications such as wind power generation, electric cars, high-end CNC machines, high power rail tractions, etc. The funding source mainly comes from the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Science and Technology Major Project, the National High-tech Research and Development Program, etc.
