  • Abstract:
    The shape stabilized phase change material ( SSPCM) was made by using paraffin as the phase change material,high density polyethylene as the supporting material and expanded graphite as the heat transfer enhancer.The sandwich-type SSPCM plate was placed in interior and exterior side of the south wall of a lightweight experimental room. The melting temperature of interior SSPCM wallboard for preserving heat in winter was about 17~26 ℃. The melting temperature of exterior SSPCM wallboard for insulating heat in summer was about 26~36 ℃.The thermal characteristics of the material were investigated in Wuhan,an area with typical hot summer and cold winter. The results show that the SSPCM wallboard had stable state and excellent performance. In summer,the exterior SSPCM wallboard can absorb solar radiation heat,decrease the peak value of indoor temperature,delay its occurrence,reduce the cooling load of building and improve indoor thermal comfort.
